The second edition of the terres Catalunya – INTERNATIONAL ECO & TRAVEL FILM FESTIVAL is approaching. It will take place between May 2 and 5 and today the first Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Josep Felip Monclús; the director of the territorial services of Enterprise and Knowledgement, Mercè Miralles; and the partner and executive producer of Filmsnòmades, promoter company of the event, Santi Valldepérez, have released the poster image and some of the novelties of this edition.
The contest specializing in audio-visual tourism, landscape and travel has received a total of 248 entries from all over Spain, but also from countries like Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Chile, Brazil or Iran, among others. In total there are up to 18 countries that will be represented there. The jury has chosen a hundred films that will participate in the official section between the two competitions of the festival: Tourist Communication and Documentaries.
The screenings will be made at the Auditorium Theater Felip Pedrell and, as a novelty, on Thursday, May 3 will be one of the sessions at the Municipal Market. The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism of the City Council, Josep Felip Monclús, stressed that with this new location to make the projections he wants to bring the festival closer to the city. In this sense, Santi Valldepérez thanked the involvement of market stallholders in this commitment to bring the event to this emblematic building of the city.
The program also provides for a projection aimed at high school students in the city. Also on the first day of the festival, on May 1, will be held in the small room of the Auditorium Theater Felip Pedrell the premiere of a screening outside the competition of the episode of the series Big Screen Splendors dedicated to New Zealand.
For its part, the director of the territorial services of Enterprise and Knowledgement, Mercè Miralles, has expressed the Government’s support for this initiative, which emerges from the private sphere, and that it is a project that goes beyond Tortosa and the Terres de l’Ebre. “It’s a country project because it is the only tourism film festival that takes place in Spain,” he said. Miralles also explained that the event is included as one of the actions included in the Year of Cultural Tourism commemorated in 2018.
The poster is the work of Arantza Reverter, student in practices at Filmsnòmades from Esardi. Jaume Moya, the artistic director of the festival, coordinated the drawing up of the poster and the spot, a process that was attended by the student in practices Adrià Lletí, also from Esardi.
