A total of 98 productions from 12 different countries (Spain, Italy, Portugal, Great Britain, Germany, Slovenia, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, USA, Taiwan and India) will participate in the official competition of the first Terres Catalunya – INTERNATIONAL ECO & TOURISM FILM FESTIVAL to be held in Tortosa from May 31st to June 3rd. Of these audiovisual productions 69 are tourist films, 22 documentaries and 7 corporate films. The jury, chaired by Swen Waterreus, professor of tourism management at the Inholland University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam and also includes Dorothée Adam (France), Alejandra Medina (Chile), George Pessis (France), Kymisha Carey Hugo Marcos (Portugal) and Joana Pardos (Spain), has evaluated as suitable for the competition these productions among which there are very diverse and geographically distant proposals. Thus in the documentary category we find the award-winning Priorat, and works on the cuisine of salicornia in the Ebro delta, on the Mayan paradise of Cozumel, or on the natural park of Vatnajökull, Iceland, to cite a few examples. In the field of tourism competition, the most extensive, there is a wide representation of works from the Ebro Lands, also from the rest of Catalonia (Solsonès, Pallars, Valle de Aran …) and Spain (Canary Islands, Andalusia, La Rioja , Valencia or Aragón). In this link to the website of terres Catalunya you can consult all the productions that will compete.
“For being the first edition of the festival, we believe that the participation has been very important and the projects that have been presented have a high level of quality,” says Santi Valldepérez, director of this event that has just received the recognition of the Europe for Festivals-Festivals for Europe (Effe), with which already count events like the Deltebre Dansa or the Fira del Teatre de Tàrrega. Terres Catalunya is the only tourism festival held in Catalonia and Spain. “We are specialized in audiovisual productions that promote natural areas around the world, so we are very pleased to have promotional spots from countries such as Slovenia or Peru very well positioned with regard to nature tourism,” adds Valldepérez.
Some forty prizes will be awarded with the trophy in different sizes of the festival: a palm olive tree created by the rapitenca designer Anna Reverté, a former student of the School of Art and Design of Amposta (Esardi) in collaboration with the collector of handicrafts of the Museum Of the Pauma of the Mas de Barberans. The prizes correspond to the different categories and subcategories of the festival (tourist communication, documentaries and corporate communication) plus special mentions and technical awards.
The winning films will be announced on Friday, June 2 at an event at the Villa Retiro Hotel in Xerta and on Saturday, June 3, they will be screened at the Felip Pedrell Auditorium.
