Documentary Screening · History and Heritage · “Canalla. El pom de dalt”

“Canalla. El pom de dalt” (59’) is a finalist documentary in the Official Competition · History and Heritage category, exploring the world of castells (human towers) through the children who climb to the very top of these extraordinary constructions: the pom de dalt.

The film follows three human tower teams throughout a season, revealing the physical and emotional demands involved in reaching the top of a castell. These children learn to control their bodies, manage fear and emotions and trust others, while also facing difficult moments and, in some cases, serious accidents.

Beyond the technical side of castells, the documentary highlights the values of community, generosity, trust and perseverance that are passed on within each team. It also shows the experiences this tradition offers children: connecting with people of different ages and backgrounds, travelling and becoming part of a shared history and identity.

A perspective on castells through the eyes of their youngest protagonists, and on a tradition that continues, generation after generation, to build community, identity and living heritage.
