Documentary Screening “The Stolen Hour” · A Look at Tourism in Gran Canaria

The 32-minute documentary “The Stolen Hour”, a finalist in the Sustainable Tourism and Ecology category, focuses on the impact that the tourism model and capital interests are having on the territory and everyday life of Gran Canaria.

Through the voices of local residents, activists and people connected to the territory, the film explores the consequences of a model rooted in extractive and colonial dynamics, addressing issues such as inequality, territorial dispossession and the vulnerability experienced by local communities.

Produced by AGARESO – Asociación Galega de Comunicación para o Cambio Social, the film has a clear focus on advocacy and awareness-raising. It approaches audiovisual storytelling as a tool for generating debate, bringing often-overlooked realities to light and contributing to processes of social change and transformation.
