Synopsis

Kenting National Park is the first national park in Taiwan and was established on January 1, 1984. 40 years since its establishment, inheriting the past and forging ahead with the future. The 40th Anniversary feature-length film takes the form of a feature film mixed with a documentary. It depicts the conservation achievement of Kenting all the way. The production team interviewed local scholars and guides and recorded their dedication to the national park. It is worth mentioning that Wei and Zhongzai in the film are based on the life stories of two real people. We returned to her hometown because of the documentary, and through the camera she saw Kenting that she didn’t know, and in the process, she reacquainted her father.

Objectives

This documentary offers an in-depth exploration of the conservation achievements of Kenting National Park, Taiwan’s southernmost national park. Through close collaboration with local community partners, guides and experts from diverse fields, the documentary reveals the human stories behind environmental stewardship. It portrays not only the protection of landscapes, but also the shared responsibility between people and place. More than documenting ecological success, it seeks to reconnect audiences with the meaning of living alongside nature. By bringing viewers into the rhythms of this beautiful ecosystem, we aim to inspire a deeper understanding of how communities can safeguard their environment while shaping a sustainable future. Through cinematic storytelling, we hope to contribute to a broader dialogue about travel, territory, and the enduring relationship between humanity and the land.
