Synopsis
The Sound of Christmas is a sensory short film that explores how sound reveals human connection. Through two identical family dinners, one filled with shared voices and another marked by digital silence, the film reflects on how technology distances us even when we are together. A neuroscience informed social experiment captures real audience reactions. Created for Mosteiro do Leitão, known for one of Portugal’s iconic Christmas dishes, the film invites a return to presence and shared tradition.
Objectives
The Sound of Christmas aims to reconnect people with the true meaning of togetherness. By using sound as the main narrative driver, the film highlights the impact of digital distraction on shared moments and invites audiences to disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other. It reinforces the brand’s role in bringing people back to the table, where real connection happens. Sound was used as the main storytelling element of the film. Real audience reactions from a parallel sensory experience were integrated into the project, reinforcing its authenticity and emotional impact. The film also draws from neuroscience, suggesting that the human brain is attuned to the sounds of shared presence, and that in their absence silence can trigger feelings of disconnection and loneliness.
