Synopsis
'CIRK' is a documentary series that portrays the growing wave of contemporary circus in Catalonia, through the most relevant personalities, entities, and companies in the current circus scene. In this episode, we follow Nilak —National Culture Award 2024 winner— a company that takes its tent and its itinerant art to small villages where there are no cultural facilities. We accompany them to Alta Ribagorça, a mountainous territory where the circus becomes an act of discovery: an encounter between art and nature, between tradition and the avant-garde. In this rugged and unique landscape, the circus becomes a bridge that connects small communities with innovative cultural expressions, and highlights the human and emotional richness of these very particular environments.
Objectives
The documentary series 'CIRK' raises social themes that directly engage with the work of circus companies, entities, and personalities in Catalonia, aiming to generate reflection on the social and cultural reality of the circus in our country.
