Synopsis
Semonkong Lodge, situated in the mountains of Lesotho in Southern Africa, released a short film showcasing a 204 metre abseil that descends the length of Southern Africa’s longest single drop waterfall - the Maletsunyane Falls. Holding a Guinness World Record, this abseil is the world’s longest commercially-operated single-drop abseil. The film delves into local legends of the Maletsunyane River, the heart-pounding adventure of the descent, and the experience connecting with the elements of nature. ‘Raging to Nature’ aims to highlight the ‘raging river in full flood, the ‘raging adrenaline rush’ of the activity, and the ‘raging to nature’ through connecting with nature, which is felt when descending the world’s longest abseil alongside Southern Africa’s highest single-drop waterfall.
Objectives
In tourism marketing, one must create awareness and interest in the country or area before expecting travellers to commit to a lodge. Additionally, destination marketing is important for building the local economy to support more than the product offered. The goal of ‘Raging to Nature’ is to capture the essence of connection with nature through Semonkong Lodge’s Guinness World Record abseil experience. The film highlights three key elements: the raging waterfall, showcasing the sheer sight, sound, and sight of the Maletsunyane Falls in full flood; the raging adrenaline rush of descending 204 metres alongside the falls, and the profound connection to nature felt during the experience. The film is dedicated to adventure and exploration of Lesotho, while using Semonkong Lodge as a base.
