Synopsis
Alentejo à Mesa is a sensory journey through the gastronomic identity of the Alentejo, a region where food is inseparable from the landscape, its people and their way of life. From the fields, vineyards and local producers to traditional kitchens and contemporary restaurants, the film follows the journey of the region’s ingredients until they reach the table. Bread, wine, fire, time and human hands become the common threads connecting ancestral knowledge with a new generation of chefs and producers. More than presenting dishes, Alentejo à Mesa portrays the table as a place of belonging, memory and sharing. It invites the viewer to discover the Alentejo through its flavours and to understand gastronomy as one of the most genuine expressions of its culture.
Objectives
The film aims to promote the Alentejo as a leading gastronomic and wine tourism destination, highlighting the authenticity, diversity and cultural value of its culinary heritage. Its objective is to strengthen the emotional connection between the audience and the territory by showing that the region’s gastronomy begins long before the food reaches the plate. It is shaped by the landscape, local ingredients, traditional knowledge, producers, chefs and the communities that preserve and reinterpret this heritage. The film also seeks to inspire travel to the Alentejo, support the visibility of its gastronomic ecosystem and position food and wine as meaningful gateways into the region’s identity and way of life.
