Terres Festival presents a documentary short-film screening devoted to the preservation of our planet. Three productions will take audiences into very different environmental realities, revealing how protecting nature also means defending threatened species, ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.
The session will open with Conserving a Species: One Rhino at a Time | Babanango Game Reserve (3’), an inside look at the work carried out by ecologists, veterinarians and specialists to protect rhinos in South Africa. The short film explores the complexities of active conservation, combining scientific knowledge, human dedication and measures designed to reduce the risk of poaching.
This will be followed by Spoiled (19’), which documents the efforts of local communities, fishers and environmental organisations to protect South Africa’s oceans from the expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction. It is a story of resistance, commitment and hope that calls for the protection of marine ecosystems and the people whose lives depend on them.
The programme concludes with Wetlands (26’), a journey to Poland that explores the importance of wetlands, among the fastest-disappearing ecosystems on the planet. The documentary reflects on the consequences of transforming these landscapes and the urgent need to restore and protect them as essential reserves of biodiversity and water.
Three stories, three territories and one shared call to action: preserving the planet means protecting the intricate web of life we all share.
