Synopsis

"Going Home" is a music video that celebrates Matsu’s slow-paced island life. Shot across Nangan, Beigan, Dongju, and Xiju islands, it tells the story of a granddaughter returning home to visit her grandmother, encountering familiar faces and landscapes along the journey. The narrative embodies longing for home, gratitude for loved ones, and the spiritual sanctuary that Matsu represents, inviting viewers to reflect on the people and places that quietly provide them with strength and energy.

Objectives

Presented as a music video, "Going Home" seeks to: showcase Matsu's distinctive four-township, five-island geography and maritime beauty; highlight traditional Mindong architecture, red wind lanterns, and fishing heritage; position Matsu as a spiritual and wellness tourism destination centered on the iconic Giant Mazu Statue; and encourage deeper cultural engagement through storytelling that resonates with themes of homecoming, gratitude, and inner peace. "Going Home" is a music video collaboration between Lienchiang County Bureau of Transportation and Tourism and singer-songwriter SANDY HXM. The soundtrack used was an original composition by SANDY HXM, featured in her debut album "Appreciation", released in 2024.
