Synopsis

Metanoia is a documentary journey into the lives of former Yakuza members in Japan who have left behind a legacy of crime and violence to embrace a path of faith and redemption. Filmed intimately and with rare access, the film explores the profound personal transformations of men who spent decades in prison—some over 30 years—and now seek peace through spirituality. Through conversations with these men and their spiritual leader, Metanoia reveals the emotional and psychological weight of their past, and the courageous, often painful process of seeking forgiveness and inner peace.
