Synopsis

The «Chaplin Laguna», this expanse of fresh water in the heart of the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park in the Bolivian Amazon, is a veritable chimera for aboriginals and scientists. Described as inaccessible and magical, many expeditions have failed to unravel the secrets. Driven by their sole determination, Joshua, Cedrik and Martin, three Swiss adventurers, spent four years of their lives to bring back a documentary about their attempt to get to this forgotten place. As they slowly realise how fragile this environment could be, the protagonists express their feelings about certain current environmental themes. As the Amazon Basin shrinks year after year, the team embark on an adventure to discover the fauna and flora of one of its last strongholds. In one of the most hostile environments on the planet, the survival of the group is sometimes just a thread. Will this dangerous journey bring them the answers they came to seek?

Objectives

Conditions related to the filming of the documentary were complicated from a logistical, meteorological or even physical point of view. Indeed, if the team had prepared a few months before the great journey, none had received special training regarding survival in a hostile environment. Based on their own personnal experiences, the three protagonists ventured into the deep jungle. No medical team accompanied them and it was by resting on their own common sense, that they would go through the various trials of living in such environment. From their lives as «townspeople» in Switzerland to adventurers in the Bolivian Amazon, they have had to adapt quickly to a whole new way of apprehending situations. It is in this same «self-taught» perspective that they carried out the project. From the birth of the concept in 2013 to this day. They have been driven mainly by their instincts and their own resources. This is how they managed to concretise an ambitious project which will remains within them forever.
